Alison and Phil have built a stunning new energy-efficient home in Cambridgeshire. The plot is south-facing and sloping, which lent itself to a split-level design. Being an architect, Alison put the designs together
incorporating the English Brothers timber frame.
Manufactured off-site, insulation is installed into the panels in a factory setting, guaranteeing excellent thermal performance. The finished three-bedroom house is packed full of contemporary details, such
as large glazed areas, internal balconies and a polished concrete floor. Wildflowers were a strong influence on the design and landscaping, so the house has a small section of green roof. Eco features include
an air source heat pump, solar PV array and a Tesla home battery.
“What I particularly like about English Brothers is that, as an architect, they work with our design rather than trying to change it to fit their system. Any issues were always sorted immediately,” says Alison.
