Our Motivation for Starting Brightman Clarke Architects

Our vision was to create a design-focused practice where we could combine our experience to offer a truly bespoke service with an open, collaborative approach.

After working in large commercial firms, we felt disconnected from clients and craved personal connections with individuals who valued high-quality design.

What started as freelance work for family and friends grew into larger commissions, eventually leading us to formally establish Brightman Clarke Architects in 2016.

One of the biggest surprises we found was that not all designers put clients at the centre of the process. We’ve always prioritised listening first, then advising—an approach clients consistently appreciate.

By staying small, we stay personal, ensuring each project reflects the client’s unique aspirations.
