Innovation Meets Tradition
With over 25 years making and repairing stained glass and leaded lights, Touchstone realised there was a need to develop new technologies which offered thermally efficient alternatives. With this in mind we developed Insulead®, a frameless, fully drained and thermally broken glazing solution. Insulead® allows historic and listed buildings to be double glazed without damaging the fabric of the building, looks virtually identical to the original and is made using traditional techniques and materials. Our Steelyte® opening casements are stainless steel, fully weather-stripped, thermally broken and have achieved a BFRC ‘A’ rating for thermal efficiency.
Our products have been accepted by Historic England in Grade II, II* and Grade I listed buildings and offer a bespoke solution for Architects, Homeowners and Conservation officers alike for the difficult issue of balancing the protection and integrity of historic buildings with the desire to meet modern insulation and environmental concerns. With our glazing system, it is now possible to care for the environment, the delicate fabric of historic buildings and the comfort of the people who live and care for our precious heritage every day. Double glazing for listed buildings is now more achievable than ever.
